•• Intermediate Rotational Power
Cable Woodchoppers
Why This Matters for Boxing
Mimics the rotational arc of the hook — high-to-low or low-to-high cable paths train the same oblique torque that powers your lead hook. The cable provides constant tension through the entire range, building strength where hooks are weakest.
How To Do It
- 1Set a cable machine to high or low position.
- 2Stand sideways to the machine, feet shoulder-width apart.
- 3Pull the cable across your body in a chopping motion.
- 4Rotate from your hips and core, not just your arms.
- 5Control the return — the negative is where strength builds.

- Keep your arms relatively straight — this is a core exercise.
- Start light and focus on the rotation pattern.
