Slip and Counter Mitt/Bag Drill

Heavy Bag or Mitts
🥊

Why This Matters for Boxing

Slip imaginary jab, throw hook, follow with cross — the slip-3-2 counter combination. This is boxing's bread-and-butter counter sequence, used by every champion from Ali to Canelo.

How To Do It

  1. 1Stand at the bag or with a pad holder.
  2. 2Slip an imaginary jab (move your head offline).
  3. 3Throw a lead hook to the bag.
  4. 4Follow immediately with a rear cross.
  5. 5Reset and repeat.

Pro Tips

  • The slip must be real — move your head, don't just lean.
  • The hook should come from the slip position — don't stand up first.
  • The cross follows naturally from the hook rotation.
