Why This Matters for Boxing

Builds the rear leg drive that initiates every cross and overhand. Your rear foot pushes off the ground, hip rotates, and force travels up through the core into the punch. Weak rear leg = weak cross. Period.

How To Do It

  1. 1Place one foot behind you on a bench or raised surface.
  2. 2Lower your body until your front thigh is parallel to the ground.
  3. 3Drive back up through your front heel.
  4. 4Keep your torso upright — don't lean forward.
  5. 5Complete all reps on one side before switching.

Pro Tips

  • Hold dumbbells for added resistance once bodyweight feels easy.
  • Don't let your front knee travel past your toes.
  • The rear leg is for balance only — front leg does the work.
