Beginner Leg Power

Goblet Squats

Dumbbell or Kettlebell
🥊

Why This Matters for Boxing

Builds the leg drive that powers uppercuts from the ground up. Every uppercut starts with a knee bend and explosive upward drive — the same movement pattern as a goblet squat. Strong legs = uppercuts that lift opponents off their feet.

How To Do It

  1. 1Hold a dumbbell or kettlebell at chest height, close to your body.
  2. 2Stand with feet shoulder-width apart, toes slightly out.
  3. 3Squat down until your thighs are parallel to the floor.
  4. 4Drive up through your heels explosively.
  5. 5Keep your chest up and core tight throughout.

Pro Tips

  • Keep elbows inside your knees at the bottom.
  • Drive up fast — like you're throwing an uppercut from the ground.
  • This also builds the leg endurance for staying low in the pocket.
