Why This Matters for Boxing

Lateral movement with jabs, never crossing feet. This teaches the fundamental boxing footwork rule: always move lead foot first when going forward or to the lead side, always move rear foot first when going backward or to the rear side.

How To Do It

  1. 1Stand in your fighting stance.
  2. 2Move laterally — left and right — throwing jabs.
  3. 3Never cross your feet. Step-slide only.
  4. 4Maintain your stance width throughout.
  5. 5Add defensive head movement between steps.

Pro Tips

  • Do this in front of an actual mirror if possible.
  • Your feet should never be closer than shoulder-width apart.
  • The jab is just to keep your hands active — focus on the feet.
