Why This Matters for Boxing

Builds lateral stability for the step-outside that sets up overhands, and the lateral weight shifting used in bob-and-weave. Boxing isn't just forward and back — lateral strength keeps you balanced while moving sideways.

How To Do It

  1. 1Stand with feet together.
  2. 2Take a wide step to one side, bending that knee.
  3. 3Push your hips back and keep the other leg straight.
  4. 4Push back to standing through your bent leg.
  5. 5Alternate sides or complete all reps on one side first.

Pro Tips

  • Keep your chest up — don't round forward.
  • Your bent knee should track over your toes, not cave inward.
  • Hold dumbbells for extra resistance.
