Beginner Core Strength

Oblique Crunches (Lying)

None
🥊

Why This Matters for Boxing

Builds the crunch motion used for inside slips. When you slip inside a jab, your oblique contracts laterally — this exercise strengthens that exact movement pattern.

How To Do It

  1. 1Lie on your back with knees bent.
  2. 2Place one hand behind your head.
  3. 3Crunch diagonally, bringing your elbow toward the opposite knee.
  4. 4Squeeze your oblique at the top.
  5. 5Lower slowly and repeat.

Pro Tips

  • Don't pull on your neck — let your core do the work.
  • Touch your elbow to the opposite knee if you can.
  • Slow and controlled — no momentum.
